"If we do not invest in our society... we are doomed and lost" [LINK]

Luis Acevedo is appalled that more people vote for their favorite "American Idol" act than for the president, but does not seem willing to consider perfectly valid reasons this may be so. American Idol has nothing in place like the Electoral College that would render your vote superfluous in many states. There are also no restrictions on voting, so non-citizens, children, felons, and the mentally incompetent may all vote. There is also no mechanism that would prevent you from voting more than once.
